How we ended up with a toy hauler by Grand Design.

We had been coveting Class A rigs for over a quarter of a century. Every RV show we attended was with the intention of someday owning a Class A. With that being said, when we actually sat down to spec out the requirements that would determine our needs we were shocked! Hands down it was apparent we needed a large towable with slides.

We looked at travel trailers and 5th wheels and initially disregarded toy haulers. Basically everything we looked at whether it be new or used needed renovations to provide adequate office space for both my husband and myself. We started off looking at bunkhouse models because an outside kitchen was a priority for us. Again, we would have had to do fairly extensive renovations and remove furniture, built-ins and add electrical outlets and lighting. We kept returning to the idea of a Toy Hauler. It didn’t make sense because Jack had just sold his FJR and I sold my Suzuki…thus we had no toys! Actually, it made perfect sense; a toy hauler provided a separate area for our office that was not part of the living space.

We had been researching different brands and some of them were had perfect floor plans for our use. We had some pretty stiff requirements and ultimately ended up having to give up some of our wants to actually satisfy our needs. When it was all said and done we settled on Grand Design as the manufacturer we wanted to go with as they warranty their units for 3 years and for full-time living. No other manufacturer would stand behind any of their units for full-timers.

NOTE: We have to give a huge shout out to Marc and Trish of Keep Your Daydream. If we hadn’t found their Youtube channel we might still be sitting at home waiting for someday!
